365 Connect was featured on the BBC’s Digital Plant Program; hosted by Gareth Mitchell, which reports on technology stories from around the globe. 365 Connect’s CEO, Kerry W. Kirby, was fielding questions on how he managed to keep 365 Connect operating during Hurricane Katrina and the importance of using web-based applications to enable business operations from anywhere on the globe.
The interview took place through a “Link-Up” in a studio in New Orleans where the London based broadcasting giant tied its show right in. “I felt like I was sitting in London,” stated Kirby. “It was truly an honor to have the BBC find us important enough to broadcast us worldwide. When I asked how many people might hear this, they said their audience estimate is 163 million listeners worldwide. They were not joking; we had email pour in from around the world and even gave a school in France permission to use the clip in a class. In fact, the interview went so well, that I invited the BBC to New Orleans to do a piece on the hurricane. They actually took me up on it and I did a second interview on the levee system and spent the day touring them around the New Orleans. We even did a piece with my Mom, who lost her home in Hurricane Katrina; it was heart wrenching to hear her talk about it on live radio.”
